A kiln in Psyrri
Ceramicist Nikolaos Kymas lights the atelier’s first kiln in a courtyard in Psyrri. The first plates leave for the hotels of Syntagma Square by carriage.

Aegean cobalt
The second generation standardises "KYMA cobalt", the deep blue that became the house signature — borrowed, as they said, "from the shadow of the Saronic at six in the evening".

The painted catalogue
From its first price list in 1931, the maison has never photographed its wares — it illustrates them, the way 19th-century botanical painters drew plants no photograph could hold. The tradition continues online: every product you see is a plate drawn by the atelier from its collection's motif. Four views, and never a lens.

The craft
Every motif is screen-printed and applied by hand before the second firing at 1,380 degrees. No two kiln loads emerge alike — which is why every piece carries a number.
